I put this on my instagram earlier today (if you aren't following me yet, why not?! Username ellenatlanta) and it seemed to go down quite well! I picked up this Sephora Matte Lip Stain in the colour number 13, Marvellous Mauve whilst in France last week, purely because I'm a sucker for trying liquid lipsticks in the hope of finding something as good (and more cost effective) as the Limecrime velvetines.

As you all know I have a velvetine in Cashmere (see post here), I purchased it before all the controversy with Limecrime really kicked off and after hearing other people's stories I'm now quite wary to purchase from them again...but their products are just so damn good!

I've tried various other matte liquid lipsticks, from the Sleek Matte Me to the Me Now lip creams that were so popular on eBay but none of them wore as well and both of the above weren't waterproof at all and just flaked off in a really unflattering way.

Cue the Sephora Matte Lip Stain! This product has almost the exact same formula, wear and even toffee-like scent as the Limecrime velvetines, plus there's a great range of colours. You also get 5ml of product as opposed to 2ml of the velvetines, for $13 instead of $20! They dry super fast and are comfortable to wear too.

I really want to try more shades so I'll keep you all posted if I do purchase more!

1. Apologies for how late this post is! I totally forgot about it with exam season and all...
2. Sorry for the lack of blogger babes this month! I wasn't reading as many blogs (again, because of exam season and all)
3. I was however very inspired by all of these chicas so make sure you check them out!
4. I also LOVED this post about the nightmare that is bikini shopping by my very good friend Rosanna, it made me laugh and cheered me up (what with it being exam season and all)

Hope you had a great day!

Jacket - Vintage
Shorts - Zara
Belt - Goodwill
Shoes - Primark
Necklace - Topshop
Faux Opal Septum - eBay
Sunglasses - Nordstrom

Let's just take a second to mourn, as this is my last set of photos taken near my EC1 flat :'(

Ready? Okay...

I received this UNIF dupe tee from WalkTrendy and put together this cute festival inspired look from the colours in the print (not that I need encouraging to add pink to an outfit). These Primark jellies have already become a summer staple of mine, I also have them in clear glitter so watch this space to see them styled up!

How cool are these septum rings?? When Elisha Francis got in touch with me I was so excited, we all know I love to rock faux septum jewellery every now and then to spice up an outfit, and these ones are so unique. The pointed shape is so edgy and makes any outfit instantly cool, especially during festival season! I think it's so important to support independent businesses (especially those run by fabulous women!) so make sure you all check out the site here.

I set off to France this morning so posts this week will be scheduled.
Have a fab week!

Iridescent platforms

I'm pretty much doing nothing but travelling/interning this summer and I'm so excited to start on my adventures. On Saturday I fly to France, then the following Sunday I leave for America and just before going back to university my boyfriend and I are off to Marrakech for a week! There's also my 4 week internship at Look magazine in August and moving into my new London house to look forward to...it's safe to say I'm going to be busy for the next few months!

I placed an order with Missguided this week to get some last minute bits for my holidays, mostly because I realllly had to buy those iridescent platforms whilst they were 30% off! I picked up the paisley co-ord and the super cute watermelon and seashell shorts too, because I might as well spend enough for free next day delivery right? I did manage to reign myself in before buying the flares though...they might have to be a purchase for a later date.

What're you excited for this summer?

Top - Topshop
Flares - Willows Call
Shoes - c/o La Moda
Circle and triangle necklace - Forever 21
Choker - Topshop

Yep, I moved out of my lovely little uni flat yesterday for the summer and as nice as it is to be home, I already miss the big city and my life there. I had the most amazing first year at university, living in central London has been a dream of mine for so long and it was everything I wanted it to be and more. I met some of the best people I have ever met and I know I've made some friends for life. If any of you would like a more detailed post on my course and university life in London just let me know, I've had a few emails from readers who wanted to know more so let me know!

We shot these photos on Saturday afternoon so I could have some posts for this week. I went for a 70s mermaidy vibe and I love the results. It's impossible not to feel sassy in velvet flares and 6-inch platforms!

Two piece - Zara
Fur collar - Topshop
Trainers - Adidas via JD Sport
Necklace - Topshop
Sunglasses - Nordstrom

Bit of a silly outfit post today, I just really wanted to pull this pastel fur collar out of my wardrobe again. Plus, I wanted to show you all how cute this Zara co-ord (also worn in this post) looks with my white Adidas trainers, I've been wearing these badboys to death recently and this two piece is so easy to throw on when you really cba but also want to look put together, i.e, always.

This is also the first outfit post where my tattoo makes an appearance! In most others you probably won't see it at all, but we put extra effort into photographing it this time. I'm so obsessed with it, even more so now than when I first got it done, it's just so cuttteeee!

Have a fab weekend!

Tuesday 9 June 2015

Ahhh I'm so excited to share this with you all! After years of posting about tattoo inspiration on this blog I finally went and got my very own baby tattoo on Friday, after finishing my first year at university. I'm so so happy with how my little crescent moon turned out and thought I'd do a post to answer any questions you all might have.

The Location: Into You London

Since I first started university I've wanted to get a little tattoo as a memento for my first year at university and my first year living in London. A while ago I googled 'best tattoo parlours in central london' and discovered Into You, a shop that's less than 2min away from my flat and that I walk past every day to get to university. If that hadn't convinced me enough, this place has an amazing reputation and was where two of my life-long idols/obsessions Alexander McQueen and Britney Spears got some of their tattoos done. The meaning of my tattoo is as much about where I got it done as the symbolism of the design, it seemed to all slot together perfectly and I knew that Into You was the place for me.

Did it hurt?

This wasn't something that I'd worried about at all, right up until the gun started going and then I wanted a friend to hold my hand! The pain was nowhere near as bad as I expected, feeling like a cat-scratch in most places and in tender areas, more like a burn. My tattoo was done in super short bursts though, so as soon as I started to really feel it, she would stop, adjust the position of my arm and start again. All in all the pain was not at all unbearable, considering the inside of the elbow is supposedly a  tender area to get tattooed. It was over in about 5-10min and in the grand scheme of things, it really wasn't bad.

Why that tattoo and why that placement?

I'm not going to go into all the ins and outs of why I got a crescent moon, but it's a design I've had my heart set on for a long while now and there's a lot of meaning attached to it.
I chose the placement because I wanted a tattoo that wasn't overly visible, but that I could choose to show or that people would get a glimpse of without me having to take all my clothes off. When my arms are flat to my side you can't see it, it's only when I move my arms that you can catch a glimpse. Plus, the location is a bit unusual which I like because of how simple the tattoo is.

The final design

I'm really, really pleased with the job that Emily from Into You did. She was such a perfectionist, touching up the lines with a super tiny needle even when I couldn't see any faults (and I'm pretty picky). With the placement in the crease of my elbow and the tiny design, there was a lot of room for error but Emily was so delicate and the lines are so sharp. The moon is also perfectly symmetrical so that when I bend my arm, the points join up to make a loop. I'm so excited that I finally got my little tattoo!

I hope you liked this post! I've been so excited to share this all with you!
