Mint to be

Necklace - Zara
Jacket, top, shoes, trousers - Topshop
Sunglasses - eBay
Rings - Primark & Accessorize

This jacket is one of my favourite pieces of clothing of all time, playing safe and opting for the black version was tempting but I'm so glad I went for it with the mint; I love the colour with my blonde hair and a soft pink lip and it fits perfectly with the pastels trend this winter. I've paired it here with a white burnout tee, leather trousers and my Zara statement necklace, which never fails to attract compliments from girls and grumbles of annoyance from guys, largely due to the addition of bells which turn me into a travelling instrument whenever I walk around, some call it irritating, I call it festive!

What do you think of this outfit?

Get in my wardrobe #15

Cami top and black slip ons - Topshop
Bralet - similar at Missguided
Necklaces - Regalrose
Fur jacket - Style Nanda

These are the items at the top of my wishlist at the moment, especially the black slip ons, the fluffy jacket and the 'not-so-sweet necklaces' by Regal Rose - I absolutely love the tongue in cheek humour and just think they'd be a cute small statement piece for any outfit.
The slip ons are a style of shoe I've seen on loads of bloggers recently and I really want to try a pair; Topshop have released two versions, one in patent and the other in fur, I personally love the patent ones and think they would look so cool with black skinnies and an oversized tee or jumper.

What's on your wish list right now?

They're just girls

Shirt - Goodwill
Croptop - Miss Selfridge
Jeans & Shoes - Topshop

Sooo I died my hair lilac last weekend! I used the L'oreal pastel toning conditioner and although I wouldn't recommend it, I love how it has faded to this pinky lilac blonde - it's subtle but such a pretty colour. I'm so tempted to go properly lilac now but the dye always costs so much money and the colour fades so fast...le cry.
These mom jeans are the latest addition to my wardrobe, I'd tried blue pairs on before and had always been apprehensive, being 5'2" and all I was worried that the baggy style would make me look like a midget but I'm in love with these! They are super comfy and highwaisted, meaning they look great with croptops or with little vests tucked in; I've had a lot of fun styling these up and they've definitely added a new dimension to my wardrobe!

My Work Experience at The Telegraph's Stella Magazine

I'm baaaaccckk! For those of you who noticed I was gone for a little while, I'm very sorry for being such a bad blogger! From the 4th to the 15th of November I was in London on a work experience placement at the Sunday Telegraph's Stella Magazine and the week and a bit since then I've just been catching up on my college work and sorting out my university application, it's been busy but I'm back for good now, lucky you lot eh?
I know a lot of people who read my blog will have some interest in fashion and the media (as the two things pretty much go hand in hand with blogging) and might be pursuing internships or work experience at magazines, so, I wanted to just talk a little bit about my time at Stella and hopefully some of you will find it helpful.

My two weeks were spent working 10am-6pm in the fashion department of Stella, a weekly publication that goes out every Sunday alongside the Sunday Telegraph, my main job was to work in the fashion cupboard, returning all of the items used in photoshoots back to the PR companies or big brands - I handled thousands of pounds worth of items on an hourly basis, including crystal encrusted Louboutins and the most amazing McQueen ankle boots, I did make a joke to one of the interns about wanting to run away with them, but she didn't really see the funny side and eyed me up suspiciously; crying "I'm not really a thief!" didn't really seem appropriate so I just awkwardly laughed it off...
The fashion team were extremely busy in the first week, after three photoshoots in one week the cupboard was overflowing and I was under a lot of pressure to shift it all in preparation for the next wave of shoots. With help from the junior fashion editor the room was clear by the weekend and my second week was a lot more relaxed, half of the fashion team flew out to Bali for two photoshoots (jeaalloouuss) whilst I met the contributing editor and got a real chance to chat to the interns.
The best part of my work placement was the people I got to meet; a fashion assistant, a features intern and a digital media assistant all gave me some great advice on breaking into the industry, university courses and internships. I also met a features intern who had recently graduated from my top-choice university, she was so lovely, answered all of my questions about the course and definitely fuelled my desire to get a place at that uni!

On my last day I was presented with a goodie bag from the team filled with beauty-themed freebies, a lovely card and some sweets, I felt a bit sentimental leaving and I hope I keep in touch with some of the girls. In the future I would love to do a placement in features too and just try things out until I find the perfect role for me, I have been invited back and also have the opportunity to get some experience with a journalist on the Lifestyle section of the Telegraph newspaper itself. It's all up from here!

If any of you have further questions please feel free to email me (address is in the side bar).

Jaws

T-shirt - c/o Choies
Shorts - American Eagle
Bag - Topshop
Sunglasses - F21

My friend Sian and I went out to take these photos last Wednesday on what was a surprisingly bright and sunny day here in England! I thought I'd try something new for outfit posts so let me know if you prefer these kind of photos as we are planning on taking more and finding different locations. I was kindly sent this t-shirt by Choies clothing and it is my absolute favourite top to throw on at the moment, I love the slightly oversized feel to it and the Versace-reminiscent print - the navy tones are also perfect for A/W and it looks great paired with black. I have another outfit planned with this t-shirt so watch this space for a different way to wear it!

Daisy nails

Rings (l-r) - Shopdixi, Accessorize, eBay, Lumafina

This is the design on my nails at the moment, I took inspiration from an image that came up on my instagram feed and painted these yellow and white daisies on a black background using toothpicks to create the dots. I really love the effect that this design gives and it really adds a certain something to all of my A/W outfits, my friend Sian and I shot some outfit photos yesterday featuring this nail art so hopefully they'll be up soon!

What'd you think of this design?

Get in my wardrobe: Jeffrey Campbell Scully Shoes

Tiltedsole
Style2Bones

The Jeffrey Campbell Scully shoe appeared on my Pinterest feed this week and I fell head over heels for the extreme tread on the sole and the chunky, almost loafer like design; as of yet I've only seen other bloggers styling the white pair, but as awesome as they look, the black are just more me. These babies would look perfect in A/W with faux leather trousers, an oversized tee and a fur coat...I'm excited just thinking about it!

September Haul

T-shirt - c/o Choies
Pink Jumper and Green Cardigan - Primark
Notebooks - Paperchase
Bear Jumper - Topshop
Make-up - Boots
Phonecase - c/o Iconemesis

I recently decided to start doing monthly hauls, as a lot of the pieces I find or buy often never make it on my blog because they don't feature in an outfit post. Last month was quite a frugal one, with two birthdays and a trip to London I'm surprised this post shows anything at all! I've been absolutely loving Primark at the moment and their endless supply of fluffy jumpers and cardis, I've been lusting after a dark green fur jacket for months now and this super soft cardigan is an amazing alternative...and is also less likely to make me look like a baby bird. I got the pink jumper in a burgundy shade too, but it photographed awfully and I couldn't include it - the pink and the deep purpley red are perfect colours for A/W and are great pieces to update your wardrobe with.

What do you think of the things I bought this month?

When I grow up I want to be...A Journalist

I'm always fascinated to find out what other bloggers, or anyone really, want to do when they 'grow up'; whether it be in fashion, media or something that contrasts completely with their blogosphere persona. Up until last year I honestly had no clue what I wanted to do with my life, I've always had a vast range of interests and couldn't narrow my passions down to just one career. My A-Level options - French, Textiles, History and Physics immediately convey an image of me running around with my arms flailing and screaming I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY LIIIFFEE! Despite this, journalism seems like the career I've been unknowingly preparing myself for since I was young - when I was little I used to go to my mum's work and make my own fashion magazines, coloured in with highlighter pens and biro (as you can probably tell, they were very sophisticated), I was obsessed with the world of Ugly Betty, I've been writing blogs since I was about 14 and for my Extended Project Qualification that I started at the beginning of last year, I decided to create my own affordable fashion magazine entitled 'onefifty' and have been working on it ever since. Still without realising that journalism was the career path for me.
For me, journalism marries my love of the arts, and more academic subjects - taking a journalism course at university will allow me to dabble in radio, T.V and print, as well as working on any subject from arts and culture to world news. It would be an absolute dream come true to work at, or run, a fashion magazine and taking a journalism course will bring me one step closer to making that a reality. I have dropped Physics (which in all honesty I hated) and picked up an AS in Creative Writing, I'm now loving my A-Levels and feel like everything is coming together because I've decided what I'm aiming for.
So, for all of you out there that may not have decided what they want to do yet, or who are considering journalism, I hope this post maybe inspires you or gives you some ideas for the future.

I'm trying to keep a 'writing journal' of pieces I've written as well as words, articles, poems, quotes and photographs that inspire me, so I can use them to inspire ideas and the journal itself will be something I can take along to university interviews.

Universities I am looking at:
  • City University London
  • University of Sheffield
  • University of Cardiff
  • University of Westminster
  • Kingston University London
  • University of Arts London - London College of Communication

Books I am reading:
  • Andrew Marr - My Trade
  • Caitlin Moran - Moranthology
  • Flat Earth News - Nick Davies
  • Dial M for Murdoch - Tom Watson & Martin Hickman
  • Street View
  • Politics and the English Language - George Orwell
  • Journalism Principles & Practice - Tony Harcup
  • The NTCJ Guide to Essential Reporting - Jon Smith
  • Fashion Blogs

Saving the best news until last - this week I was offered 2 weeks work experience at The Telegraph's Stella magazine in London!! I'm so excited to get a realistic and first-hand experience of the magazine industry and I'm hoping this will open doors for me, whether it be on my university application or when I'm applying for future jobs. Hopefully I'll be able to do a photo-diary type thing to feature on here and show you guys the kinda things I'm getting up to!

What do you want to be when you grow up?

In A/W, we wear pink

French Vogue
JS Lee trompe l'oeil - Topshop Unique
T-shirt - Jade Clark at Lavish Alice
Fluffy Jumper - Asos
Everything else - Topshop

Of all the trends that have emerged this A/W, the flurries of pink storming down the catwalks and taking over the streetstyle blogs have been by far the most refreshing. Every shade from candyfloss, to bubblegum: fuchsia to cerise welcome, we're all Barbie girls here.
Don't be fooled however, you don't have to be exhaling rainbows and unicorns in order to embrace this trend - teaming an oversized, soft pink jumper with heavy silver wear, leather skinnies and chunky boots creates an instantly on-trend and grungey look. The powder pink coats seen everywhere from French Vogue to Topshop Unique offer a more sophisticated vibe, whereas a simple vest like the Topshop one above can be dressed up or down - with jeans, skirts or a pair of shorts and would be a perfect way to dip your toes in the pink waters.
The examples I've shown above are my current favourites on the high street, although I'm sure there will be much more to come as the new season items trickle in. The two jumpers are highest on my wishlist - you can't beat a cosy knit to throw on in the colder months and both will act as statement pieces to instantly update your wardrobe.

What do you think of this trend?

Plastic-made dreams

Jumper - Topshop
Skirt - Missguided
Shoes - Topshop and DIY (see here)

Heeeyyy! It's been so long! Sorry I haven't posted in such a long while, but my internet was disconnected as we were doing work on the house and when we plugged it back in again the modem decided to break (le cry), my wifi is still intermittent and my A-level work is piling up, but I have posts ready to go so there shouldn't be any more delays! I have an 'August Haul' that I wanted to post earlier, so let me know if you still want to see that!
I took these photos quickly the other week before I went to Leeds, it's quite a simple outfit but I ordered this skirt from Missguided and absolutely fell in love - the print, colours and fit are just so perfect and I've found many ways to dress it up and down so watch this space for more ways to wear!

Nails of the day #2

Rodeo Sweetheart - Urban Outfitters

I was hoping to take some outfit photos today but the weather has taken a turn for the worse here in the UK and all of a sudden it's so dark outside! Tomorrow is meant to be sunny so fingers crossed I will get some time then. This look was created using a nude base and then I painted lilac hearts onto the tips, using black liquid liner I then outlined the hearts again and I really like the finished result, it's perfect for this transitional time of year!

If you like know how I do my nails and where I get the falsies from, you can see the post here!

Let me know what you think of this look :)

Get in my wardrobe #14

Everything else - Topshop

Since I created the image for this post it has become more 'Things that are now in my wardrobe', as my mum treated me to the skirt, the dress and the backpack as a reward for my AS results (yaaaayy). The faux snakeskin backpack will be my new college bag and I loved styling it up with the maxi skirt, a black crop top and vampy lipstick for a grungy A/W look. Personally I think Topshop is killing it at the moment, as more and more highstreet shops begin to trickle in pieces from their A/W ranges; it seems that every time they update their 'New in' page (I check everyday) there's at least 4 pieces I cannot live without...goodbye bank balance, hello A/W wardrobe!
Moving on, you see those gorgeous Unif Vapor dupes? (the original's RRP is $230)
THEY ARE £13.50...WITH FREE POSTAGE...say whuuuttt?! Plus, they're not just an absolute bargain, but in my opinion a much better shape than the Vapors themselves, to me the Unif originals seem a bit corrective and almost like they've been drawn by a small child - it can't just be me?

Let me know what you think of these picks!

Falling for Fall

Skort - Zara
Top - Goodwill
Sunglasses - F21
Leather Jacket - Topshop
Boots - Jeffrey Campbell Cross Damsels

I. AM. OBSESSED with this skort from Zara; I love the mixture of prints, colours and the perfect A/W style, plus, the fact that it instantly makes you look like some kind of layering aficionado is totally fine by me (because I suck at it irl, I know, it's shameful). Surprisingly, I've actually found so many things to wear it with and already want to do another outfit post featuring it (I'll leave a gap don't worry), the mixture of colours in the prints mean that any can be picked out to create an outfit, I've found that it looks so pretty with lilac. With tartan and dark florals set to be huge next season, I'm really happy with this buy!

America Haul!

Shirt - Goodwill
Faux leather cut-out shorts - Urban Outfitters
Crushed velvet tee - Goodwill
Navy silk t-shirt - Goodwill
Distressed shorts - American Eagle Outfitters
Velvet jumper - Goodwill
Imagine Dragons t-shirt - Concert (IT WAS AMAZING!)
Necklace - Forever 21
Lilac Sparkly Knit - Goodwill
Grey t-shirt with faux leather sleeves - Forever 21
Rings - Forever 21
Nail polishes - Urban Outfitters
Sunglasses - F21

I've been back from America for just over a week now so it's about time I showed you guys everything I got whilst I was there! For those of you who are reading the item list with no idea what Goodwill is, it's like a huge charity shop where everything is $4.99 or less (usually!), we went twice during my stay and as you can see I picked up some absolute bargains - I'm probably most proud of the 100% silk, navy t-shirt that will be so perfect for A/W. Although I was often shopping in the 30 degree heat I tried to pick up mostly basics and pieces for the upcoming season; I always get way too excited way too quickly for A/W and this year has been no exception! I'm in love with these highwaisted laser-cut leather shorts and everything velvet and tartan - I'm also looking forward to trying out all of these new nail polishes, Prairie Rose has vast become an unexpected favourite of mine and Mystic has such a beautiful opal-like shimmer.

Let me know if there's any items in particular here you'd like to see in an outfit post!
