Rainbow Nails & Feb Review

Instagram - ellenatlanta

So, today's the final day of me blogging every day in February! (woop woop, challenge complete)

I wanted to do a sort of 'review' post, asking you all your thoughts on the past month's content and giving my view on how it's been. However, I couldn't just do that as it'd be boring, so here's a photo of the pretty pastel rainbow nails I'm currently sporting too!

Blogging every day hasn't been anywhere near as hard or as stressful as I expected, especially as I quite often scheduled a number of posts in one day. Above all, I think I really pushed myself with outfit posts and managed to publish 10 this month, I'm really pleased with that and maintaining that level is something I hope to continue doing.
On the other hand, there were a few times when I blogged something just for the sake of it and being the perfectionist that I am, wasn't 100% happy with the content/photos. Being a full-time student as well as acting like a full-time blogger was at times quite difficult, so often I would run out of time to create the content I had originally planned. I was far too stubborn to not complete this challenge, so there were a couple of instances where I published the posts anyway, despite knowing I'd ultimately regret having poor quality content on my site.

Going forward, I definitely think I'm going to blog more than I used to before, but it's unlikely to be every day. I'd much rather aim for every other day as I think that's more realistic for delivering quality, creative content that I can put a lot more thought into.

So yeah, I was just wondering what you all thought of this month's blog posts? Would you rather I continued blogging daily?

Opal Septum Ring

If you follow me on instagram you will already have seen this, but I just had to share this beauty with you all, and posting it on here means I can actually provide a link as well. I'd seen these faux septum rings around for upwards of £20, but decided to have a browse on eBay and saw this one for only £6.99!
Opals are by far my favourite stone, I just think they're so beautiful and I'll never get tired of looking at all the different colours within them. I never used to like septum rings (and wasn't brave enough to wear one), but I just think they look so unique and add an edge to any otherwise girly outfit.

What do you think?

LFW - 70s Pastel Princess

Jacket - eBay
Top - Oh My Love
Flares - Willows Call
Boots - Asos
Necklace - Topshop
Hat - Asos

I ended up paying an impromptu visit to London Fashion Week on Tuesday for the final day of 'festivities'. Tia contacted me and asked if I would act as a client for her photography project for uni, so I joined her at Somerset House where she was shooting some street style and we did these photos!
I've never been to Fashion Week before and I have to admit it was one of the most surreal experiences of my life. I had no idea what to expect, but the hoards of people trying to take my photograph took me completely by surprise. Every time Tia got ready to take a shot, another four photographers would barge in the way. If you ever want to feel famous for an hour or two, go to Fashion Week!

I'll also be attending London Fashion Weekend on Saturday afternoon so let me know if any of you are going and come say hey if you're there!

The most popular posts on my instagram are always of my nails, so I thought I'd compile a list of my favourite previous designs and colours (in no particular order).
I've been quite lazy when it comes to nail art recently, so seeing your reaction to my 'pastel cloud nails' has inspired me to get back into nail art. I always loved doing it and the compliments you get afterwards are so worth it. Plus, if it's the kind of thing you guys want to see more of, I'm definitely going to put more effort in to creating new designs.

Which is your favourite?

Fishtail Plait

Coat - Primark
Top - Forever 21
Jeans - American Eagle Outfitters
Shoes - Asos
Bag - LaModa

This is one of my go-to outfits for uni, it's an outfit I wear quite a lot but something I haven't really shown you all before, so voila! My flatmate Nia did this plait for me the other day and I got so many compliments, I wish I was good at stuff like this but I guess that's what flatmates are for!

I joined LFW today for the final day of 'festivities', I have to admit it was one of the most surreal things I've ever experienced but more on that in a post soon!

Review: Banish Dry Winter Skin With E45

Products ℅ E45, but all opinions are my own!

If you're anything like me, your skin suffers in the winter time. I tend to get eczema patches on the tops of my arms and my hands can get really dry and sore (and there's no point painting your nails all pretty if you've got dry, cracked hands!).
Noticing that I've blogged before about having seriously sensitive skin, the wonderful people at E45 contacted me and asked if I could review some of their 'winter saviour' skin care products for you all. As someone who often suffers from dry skin and struggles to find anything that will actually help, I was eager to try this out so I could let you all know whether or not these products are worth a try!

The moisturising lotion is something I've been using everyday, I tend to put it on at night, letting it soak in for a few minutes before I put my pjs on. This is a really nice, light lotion that absorbs quickly - I've even put this on in the morning and I only have to wait a minute or two before I can get dressed. I can't stand moisturisers that leave you feeling sticky and gross for hours after applying them, so this is perfect for me. It's also unscented and hasn't irritated my sensitive skin at all. As a moisturiser, this is a really lovely product for keeping your skin soft and supple, but for extra dry patches I'd recommend something stronger…cue the overnight hand cream!

Now I know this product specifies that it is meant to be used on your hands, and it is fab for that, but I've also been using it as a more intensive eczema treatment for my arms. I applied this product to the tops of my arms the other night when they got really red and sore, the next morning I woke up and all the redness was gone. There were still some dry patches but I think with regular use this product could really make a massive difference. Even my flat mate was surprised at how much better my skin looked after just one overnight application.

As a hand cream, it soaks in quickly and is a really nice product to use. Instead of having my usual sore, red and scaly winter hands (sorry if that's TMI!), my skin is now super soft and there's no sign of any dry patches on my hands at all.

For more advice and products for eczema/dry skin treatment, you can visit the E45 website.

What're your winter skin saviours? I'd love to hear some suggestions!

Tattoo Appreciation Post #2

I haven't done one of these posts in a while so I thought I would add to my inspiration board of tattoos. The first two images are by Seoeon, one of my new favourite tattoo artists; her style is so delicate and detailed, the pieces she does tend to be quite small which is exactly what I like. In this last photo, I really like the arrangement of these fairly small pieces, as well as the combination of images, patterns and fonts.

Pastel Cloud Nails

Just a quick post today as it's my mum's birthday and we're about to head out again for a schmancy meal! I thought I'd show you my current nails: pastel blue and lilac with white clouds over the top. I also got this super cute opal ring (middle finger) from Portobello market this afternoon, I've been looking for something similar for ages and it's so pretty!

Chinese New Year!

Coat - eBay
Dress - Missguided
Necklace - Wanderdusk
Shoes - Converse
Bag - Zara

On Thursday, Katie and I headed over to Chinatown to join in with some of the New Year celebrations: we had an explore, ate the yummiest food and I even wore a dress…yep, outside and everything!

Chinatown has become one of my favourite places in London, I love all the little stands and of course, the food is amazing. We returned to the shop where I got my little pink pompom from (the one you can see on my LaModa bag in this post), and once again I wanted to buy all the Hello Kitty stationary in sight.
We also ventured into a Chinese supermarket and took advantage of the 'buy 1 get 2 free' offer, only realising once we were home that we did in fact have quite a lot of biscuits…It did lead to some fun taste testing later that evening though, we would advise you to steer well clear of the peach and chocolate flavoured Pocky!

This outfit was the result of me just having a bit of a mess around, attempting to push myself slightly out of my comfort zone. I might do a 'one dress, two ways' series on this dress, showing how it could be dressed down like this or amped up for a night out!

Bricks Magazine

I haven't felt this inspired or attached to a publication since my Dad brought me a Neopets magazine back from America when I was about 10. I carried it around with me for almost a month until the pages started to tear and I decided it was better off kept in a safe place.
This is issue one of Bricks, an independent fashion photography and styling magazine with large, luxuriously thick pages. I picked this up on an impromptu trip to Brick Lane a few weeks back when I stumbled upon a newsagents filled with both international and independent fashion magazines.
Bricks is largely comprised of editorials put together by up-and-coming, self-supported creatives working in design, styling or photography. Each shoot is completely unique and I find the edginess and creative direction of each one so inspiring. This magazine provides a platform for those who are just starting to break in to the industry and as a result, these shoots really offer something different, and I think more creative, from your everyday fashion magazines. Looking through each editorial set just feels so refreshing.
I'll be starting a styling course in March (more on that coming soon!) so this magazine has been the perfect catalyst for my creativity. It's unusual for me to like every page of a publication, but I'm completely obsessed with Bricks and have flicked through it repeatedly since I bought it. I can't wait to see what their next issue brings!

Kawaii Till I Die

Twosie - Oh My Love
Cardigan - Primark
Shoes - River Island
Necklace - Topshop
Bag - LaModa
Phone case - ShopJeen
Opal Septum - eBay

For the past few days, the weather in London has been making me so happy, it's been bright blue skies and sunshine, without that frosty chill of winter. I know it's still quite early to get my hopes up but it's starting to feel like spring again.

My outfit today was essentially one of my favourite looks from summer last year that I've been desperate to wear again. I absolutely love this twosie, even more so now it looks just as cute with winter tights and a fluffy cardigan!
This look also showcases my Valentines gifts, I'm so obsessed with both the phone case and the backpack. I even managed to pick up this super cute matching pompom in China town from a really 'Kawaii' store, I honestly could've spent hours in there! I think we're going to go back tomorrow to join in with the Chinese New Year celebrations, exciiitting :)

I'm in this month's Cliché Magazine!

Ahh so exciting! I'm in the style section (page 28) of this month's Cliché magazine!

Megan Portorreal, the editor of the magazine, contacted me about a month ago and ever since I've been impatiently waiting for the issue to come out. The magazine is free to read online here, and although they're expensive I might have to buy a hard copy because this is my first proper magazine feature!

I just thought I should share this with you all :)

Get in my wardrobe #25

Silver bag - Topshop
Bomber Jacket - H&M
PJs - Topshop
Pink Bag - Grafea
Silver shoes - Topshop
Pink shoes - Topshop

Don't you just love a colour scheme? I've been slowly building this wishlist up over the past few weeks and it's all just so pretty and summery. I've been eyeing up a Grafea backpack for a while now, so when they brought out the 'baby' editions with their own matching pompoms I practically died over the cuteness.
I have a large Fashionary sketchbook at home and I pretty much used all of the pages for my textiles work, so when I saw this set of 3 small holographic sketchbooks I fell in love. For those of you who don't know, Fashionary sketchbooks give you a faint outline of the body so you can draw your designs over the top, without having to worry about spending your time getting the body right and figuring out proportions. Genius!

What's on your wishlist at the moment?

Monochrome Nailz

Nail Polish - Barry M

After wearing the short Primark nails for a couple of weeks I was dying to get my claws back. My flatmate said shorter nails made it look more like I had proper 'human hands' but where's the fun in that?  I love having silly nails!

White nail polish can be a surprisingly bold statement and I loved the way they looked with my all-black outfit yesterday. As usual I had piled the rings on!

Let me know what you all think!
